According to Australian aviation sources Emirates is to commence A380 flights to my home city of Perth on 29 March to coincide with the completion of an upgrade to the airline's lounge at the airport. The runways, taxiways and an A380 gate were complete several months ago. The jet replaces a B777-300ER that is currently used. I hope to provide photos.
Do you please have a link to these sources? The A380 route to Perth was supposed to start on 1st March...
I doubt this will happen so soon. If you try to book a flight to PER on emirates.com, it shows Boeing 777-300ER for all three daily services (EK420, EK422 and EK424) on March 1st (on March 29th as well and even on July 31st).
Of course, this is no proof that it won't happen until July, but at least it does't have the same "official" status as for example the second daily A380 Service to DME which starts Aug 1st (and can already be booked accordingly).
I'm really curious how this will turn out. If they really plan to use the A380 to PER in March, it would make some sense to make it official soon, unless there is still some major obstacle which prevents them from doing so (uncertain delivery dates? probably not).
