Military airlifters have very long operational lives. I don't think there is any requirement from the USAF, which has just only completed its C17 purchases. Maybe they can start replacing the C-130s. Also the A400M was designed to be able to haul vehicles too big for the C-130 into places where the C-17 couldn't go (small dirt strips). It is also designed to be (in terms of size) between the C-130 and C-17 (as can be seen in the following picture) so it might be able to find it's own niche in the military marketplace.
