But if has the new wings, why it will be convoyed now? We know frames are taken less than a year to complete now That's true as well. I would imagine that MSN117 has the old Wings, as most likely it was built before MSN137..... Fabien I doubt that. Airbus does not build parts and then store them all over Europe because the customer wants to delay the delivery. It's an ongoing supply chain, it does not work that way. Air France delayed the delivery of MSN117 some time ago so the construction has begun later. We also know that MSN numbers are not built in sequence. Absolutely, it is the way it works. Built parts of MSN031 stayed for a long time stored in XFW, regularly reported spotted in the exact same state as MSN117 is right now (white sheet in on the cockpit window). At one point I even thought MSN031 would be in production before MSN035, as MSN035 built parts were reported long after MSN031 ones... Another clue as well, both MSN047 and MSN050 were stored at the point in the production, where QF decided to delay them. Your theory would have been Airbus to fly them to XFW, OF and paint them, then fly them back to TLS and store them, and then put them back in the loop for flight testing, but this didn't happen... To me MSN117 was built some time ago, hence does now have the old Wings!.. Fabien

The limiting factor for this year, was wing production, mainly the move to the new "crackles" wing. Some convoys were even late because of late wing delivery because of the ship stranding. I hardly believe they have some old wings laying around, were would they have been kept? The wingbox change was for the changed wingtwist not for the crack repair, so even if a centre part has been laying around a few month it should accommodate the newest wing. I believe every frame coming now will have the new wings.

I am also wondering about MSN144, it seems to me that both MSN148 and MSN151 were spotted 'Parts Built' a little while ago, so MSN144 must necessarily been in PB way back from now, I have no evidence but I am pretty sure it would have been built before MSN137. Hence old Wings... Fabien

No wings has ever been spotted inside/outside-near the Wing factory in the UK, and furthermore Wings do not carry any MSN number. I guess it is the same as in XFW, XFW has some extra space available and can stock already built parts, Broughton would have a few side hangars as also TLS has... Fabien

You would have thought Broughton 'just' construct a pair of wings and they go with the next frame. But I suppose if a new Airline, or existing customer, is screaming for new wings, there will be some queue jumping. So logically there ought to be old wings which will appear on frames after the new ones.
What is the production rate for wings?

Fabien Wings have been spotted in Broughton, but no extra ones. Wings are hardly "customized" that could be a reason for not having a MSN #. If TLS would store wings than where. I do not believe in "spare wings" and assume all wings convoyed after MSN 137 being new type crack free wings. A380 production numbers is said to be down in 2013, because of the slowdown in wing production due to changeover. Why a slowdown in A380 production if they had stored wings?

Broughton was producing the old wings, in my opinion all are convoyed, than changed over and we will getting new wings now. MSN 137 body parts were convoyed to arrive with the first new wings.

I do not speak about 'storing Wings' in general, just putting aside the ones that are delayed for any airline if an airline delays a frame, all parts for that frame are put aside, which ever the place/factory, and are put back in the system when the frame is ready to go on, we have had evidence of this. Once MSN117 was delayed by AF, Wings and any other parts were put aside, and will be back in the system very soon apparently. That said, Wings do not wear any MSN number, but DO have some levels of customisation, I had the answer by the guide when I toured the inside FAL a few years ago Fabien

We can talk all the day back and force, you Fabian believe in wing storage, I do not.
Perhaps there is somebody knowing Brouthon well, who could answer us.
