As so often when an American carrier has Airbuses on order, there is some a.net speculation that HA wants to get rid of the Airbuses Virgin has on order, but what was actually said was far less clear-cut. There is probably some negotiation under way, and some changes to be expected, but it could just be a different product mix.

There is probably some negotiation under way, and some changes to be expected, but it could just be a different product mix. I would not be astonished if AS drops the Airbus orders for Virgin America. Perhaps not all of them, but the birds that Airbus has not yet started on. Would be the first step in keeping AS all Boeing. The next step would be to exchange the whole fleet. VX leases its fleet, so exchanging Airbus for Boeing while keeping to the same lessor, could be a possibility.

I think it's silly if they do that the pilots would have to go learn how to fly a new aircraft. Instead the one they already now.

AS owns most of its frames, has in house service and in house training. It is not strange for a midsized airline to concentrate on one brand. VX leases its airplane and, I think has outsourced bi part of the service. I do not know if they are with their own training.
