Sounds more like an interim name to me. Of course, it's a non-name for a would-be project. By talking about a re-winged A321neo, Airbus is apparently trying to dissuade Boeing from launching its proposed '797'.

Not sure what Jon is on about ! He is reporting on someone else's report ! You might be able to add a couple of feet to the forward fuselage but that's it. the A321 is prone to tail strikes, even in the hands of the very experienced test pilots ! Any more length would require a new twin axel undercarriage etc ........

Let's not take this as a mature project. For the moment, it's just a paper proposal from Airbus to deter customers from ordering a rival product too quickly. 'Wait a little bit, you'll soon have a fantastic offer !'
