Why don´t they expand their service to Frankfurt with an A380? Is there a reason why there is still no A380 service to FRA from Emirates? Hi shadow123. There are State sites on which EK prohibit to land in FRA. They serve the protection of LH. cheers Few questions: Is it just Emirates A380 or is it all Emitates? Is it just FRA or all of Germany? Are there any other operators who have these restrictions?

For example, India doesn't allow the A380 at all so far. www.traveldailynews.asia/news/article/51888/ban-on-airbus-a380-deterEmirates would like to fly the A380 to Vienna, but they are not allowed for that much capacity as Austrian Airlines flies in direct competition with them on the route to Dubai.

Local authorities always tend to support local businesses a bit more than others, obviously. But I would love to see an A380 on regular bases in Vienna. I hope they will change their decision sometime, as I don't see other whale jet airlines interested in Vienna. The A380F would strenghten my hopes!

There are State sites on which EK prohibit to land in FRA. That is incorrect. EK can as often as they want to FRA and and the choice of the aircraft is also free. The only restriction is, that EK has only landingrights on 4 german Airports (free choice). So if they want to BER for example, they have to give up HAM or DUS.

Can someone tell me, which the Emirates A380 ULR routes are? It depends on the definition of “ULR”. I don't know if there is a specific definition used by Emirates. Some sources on the WWW say “more than 7.500 mi (~12.100km) of non-stop-flight”. But by this definition NONE of the routes cited by seibedom would be ULR (though DXB-SYD comes close). The definition WOULD apply if they start operating the A380 on their routes to LAX, SFO, IAH, DFW or GRU. AFAIK, even among the routes served by other airlines’ A380s, only LAX-MEL would be ULR by this standard (LAX-SYD comes close, too).
