Emirates can't do Dubai-Sydney with LR frame and full load. That at least from what I read here. IIRC it was from Alfa Male but not sure

Can someone tell me, which the Emirates A380 ULR routes are? I would say, DXB - SYD - AKL DXB - MEL - AKL DXB - JFK DXB - YYZ DXB - NRT Are there any beside them? Thanks! The only ones indeed are SYD, MEL, AKL, YYZ and JFK. DXB - NRT is not ULR if I remember correctly True! It depends on the definition of “ULR”. I don't know if there is a specific definition used by Emirates. Some sources on the WWW say “more than 7.500 mi (~12.100km) of non-stop-flight”. But by this definition NONE of the routes cited by seibedom would be ULR (though DXB-SYD comes close). The definition WOULD apply if they start operating the A380 on their routes to LAX, SFO, IAH, DFW or GRU. AFAIK, even among the routes served by other airlines’ A380s, only LAX-MEL would be ULR by this standard (LAX-SYD comes close, too). The use of ULR and LR terms are specific to Emirates indeed, ULR for flights over 10 hours. ULR configured A380s will have a crew-rest area, LR configured A380s will not. Emirates can't do Dubai-Sydney with LR frame and full load. That at least from what I read here. IIRC it was from Alfa Male but not sure Indeed! Fabien

But with those 8 new ULR configured A380's they could open 4 new ULR routes. Tim Clark was lately hinting towards DXB-LAX.

It also makes AKL the second A380 only destination for EK. LHR was the first.

The new A380 flights DXB-BNE(-AKL) will be on 1st October indeed, with the leg BNE-AKL taking off on 02nd October. Fabien

It also makes AKL the second A380 only destination for EK. LHR was the first. According to this: content.emirates.com/downloads/ek/pdfs/timetables/EKM_Worldwide_MAY13.pdfthere are already several other "A380 only destinations": AMS (one daily flight), YYZ (three services per week) and JFK (twice daily). Of course none of them is served as often as LHR (5 daily) or AKL from October.
