D-AIMA, LH #1, "Frankfurt am Main" from Planespotters.net: EDIT: Sadly they scaled the picture down, but still amazing if you compare the engines to the people standing next to it.

747 and A380 are handeled on the apron in LHR? They don't get a gate?

I think its just a parking position, waiting (Qantas) for the flight back. I think there is much time between.
Landing at LHR is in the morning and the flight back to Australia in the evening.

Thanks for your detailed answer! An aircraft only makes money when in the air and on rotations they normally try to stay as short as possible. Any idea why they stay in LHR for such along time?
