In consideration of their current financial situation, it’s understandable they cancel order, no matter the whole order or partially. After all, these stuff are rumours, let’s hope for the best. Yet, there is a huge difference between a cancellation of the whole A350 order and a reduction in the number of planes they take. Etihad's narrowbody order is of no major importance to Airbus (only they A350 order is). So, if the airline were to say that it does not want to take any A350, then I think Airbus would play hardball, exercising their full contractual rights as they did with Skymark. I think Etihad will have to take a number of A350s, to get better treatment for the cancellation of the rest. I wish to point out that Boeing is in a different situation. Having both the 777X and the 787 on order, Etihad in any case will remain one of their major customers, which Boeing will have to take into account. If finally they merge with EK, keep 787 or some 777X order is also logical. If a merger was announced by the authorities, that would change everything. Then, EK would lead discussions with both manufacturers about the combined fleet, and that would be a horse of a different colour.

just curious if anyone knows about this if EY actually cancel all the A350s, what will happen to MSN 290 ? I suppose parts have been built already .....

Two quick comments : - EY may reduce its order and/or delay deliveries, but a complete cancellation at such a late stage, was unlikely in the first place in spite of rumours ; - I hope they'll pick up this frame quickly, to subdue speculation.

They may or may not take delivery of MSN290, so the worst case scenario would be (considering parts have been spotted): it's too late to cancel the frame, so AIB will build it, EY won't take it and its gonna end up as a white tail (like MSNs 52/55)... I'm pretty sure though they have something in mind, I don't think they want another frame sitting around in TLS for years.
