They (SQ-frames) might be leased from the original lessor..... I would guess this to be the most probable scenario.
The lease ends and the planes move somewhere else - the common practice with other planes.

Also being discussed here. a380.boards.net/post/98054/threadThe conversation started off in the 2nd hand A380 thread when there was little information available before moving to the new customers thread. With the information we currently have though, I think it's worth discussing this in a new thread like this and I will support the previous discussion being moved into this thread Has this somehow been confirmed by Hi Fly? Not yet. In the post made by Kronus which posted the information in the CH Aviation article, it stated a formal announcement is due in October.

Ok we'll move the discussion to an Hi Fly A380s thread then...... (~here~) To summarise, the only information that is available for now is the Ch-Aviation article, and this article purely speculates that Hi Fly will take the ex-SQ frames, and it looks to me that everybody has been buying this information as a confirmed one. Hi Fly taking the ex-SQ frames is only a possibility among others, Hi Fly taking second-hand A380s is purely speculation too.

and it looks to me that everybody has been buying this information as a confirmed one We are just discussing the hypothetical scenario if Hi Fly would operate A380s. A formal announcement is due in October. Until then, we can speculate as much as we want. No other A380s are coming off lease in the short term, so that's that. Hi Fly will certainly not take new builds as their business case is based on cheap, second-hand airplanes.

I agree that SQ is the most likely source of the frames but we won't know for certain until HiFly announce something.
We also know that MH are taking their A380s out of regular service and they may be doing a deal with HiFly. Nothing absolutely certain yet, we are told announcement will be in October.
