Very bad news for Airbus. It's not the size of the lost order, it's the loss of the only A338 customer. It will be even more difficult now to find buyers for this aircraft.
Leeham's information that Boeing is going all-out to kill the A330neo is very interesting. Obviously, the plan is to kill the A330 to be able to raise 787 - and 797 - prices. I hope that plan doesn't succed !

Well, unfortunately I trust Leeham's market intelligence. HA apparently has not have signed yet, but they may have made a decision at management level, waiting for board approval before announcing it. I hope I am wrong !

Another interesting tidbit of information in Leeham's latest release is that the HA tip came from the US, not from TLS, though they attended the first A35K delivery there.

It's rather simple, in my opinion. - Either Leeham news was right, HA had made a decision in Boeing's favour, but for some reason is still not ready to officialise it ; in that case, HA denies having signed, but an announcement will come soon. - Or Leeham news believed it had a scoop, but was misinformed and made at best a premature announcement, if not a false one. In this case, anything may happen. The more time runs, the more likely it is that HA actually did not make a decision.

As first two A330-800 production slots have been assigned to Hawaiian Airlines: MSN 1960 and MSN 1968, Airbus is still in the game. Another 3 msn for delivery in 2019 are known, but not for my level of ATDB subscription. Last - 6th frame for delivery will be in 2020 (no msn yet). source ATDB
