will this thread be changed and relocated? Why?? Hawaiian has 24 A330's. didn't realize that, I thought this was just about the A338s...carry-on then...

The Flightglobal story includes an interesting tidbit of information : according to Airbus, the GE engine pricing was a deciding factor. "Airbus says the Rolls-Royce Trent 7000-powered aircraft is 'excellent' but claims it was 'simply undercut in price' from its competitor." GE's win, not Boeing's, actually was the most surprising part of HA's decisions. Now we have an explanation - GE paid to enter HA's fleet, which I think it was entirely absent from. I would add that a GECAS financial proposal was likely part of the Boeing team offering.
