As always with China, we have to wonder whether these are 'new' orders. The information comes from the French side, as no signing ceremony seems to have been staged during the visit. Comments by a French official ("these are orders that had never been announced and which were not part of the Merkel package"), quoted by Reuters, do not clarify the answer.
So, these orders were not part of the 'Merkel' package, but how many of them had already been booked by Airbus as 'unidentified' ? How many had already been unofficially agreed (MoU, LoI ...) with various Chinese airlines ? I guess we'll never have an answer, since it is increasingly difficult to link government announcements and actual orders from Chinese airlines.
We should not, in my opinion, pay too much attention to such government announcements. Orders are a much more reliable metric.

True but as we know all those Chinese orders must be at first part of similar announcement and later they DO transform into normal order. And I do believe without this official "vehicle" they can not become conventional orders so......

what I'm surprise is 0 widebodies ? how is that possible No agreement about aircraft sales, whether narrowbodies or widebodies, seems to have been officially signed during the visit (though a member of the French delegation mentioned 184 narrowbodies), but I don't think it matters as long as there is a good political relationship. Chinese airlines will buy the same number of narrowbodies whether there is a contract with the government or not. As regards widebodies, obviously there were negociations, but no agreement, which probably means that serious topics are on the table. That's fine, major deals in China are always slow.

Looks like 3 widebody deals will be signed in a month as told John Leahy at Annual press conference (maybe will be announced on Singapore Airshow 2018). I wouldn't be surprised if the CAS A350 deal gets signed soon.
