For this particular order, we could say that it is a minor loss/win for either engine maker. LH already had a split engine selection for their NEOs on order. I would probably even go as far as saying that it is a slight reassurance of LH's faith in the PW engine given how much it has been of trouble to their operations, and that they could have gone full CFM for this round.

I would simply say that there is nothing new : from the outstart LH decided to split its orders between both engine manufacturers. They keep the same policy, nobody has lost anything. There is no indication that they are dissatisfied with the P&W engine, though they said they would have liked to receive them more quickly.

A new press release which seems to have been on the shelf for a few days already. (The latest deliveries last Saturday are not included )

I do not thing that in the last years the French government had a big influence on what type of airplanes Air France have been buying. I do not think that there will be any change to the type of airplanes Air France will be buying after a change of ownership. Air France has a big fleet of 777 and has bought the 787. The 777 could be explained with being that special, that no other frame could replace its place. But the 787 could easily be replaced by ordering A330, A330neo and/or A350. Yes Air France uses A320 family frames instead of 737, but that again is a quite rational decision.

... And the French government currently has no intention of selling its stake in AF.

Nice endorsement. They seem to be happy with the -1000 performance. Did QR cancel 4 A350s at some point? I could have sworn they had 80 of them on order originally, whereas the press release states 76 now.

Airbus had to bring some of the unfinished ones out of the factory (or outfit hanger) and park them. Later on Emir of Qatar chimed in after meeting then-Airbus CEO Bregier and QR finally took delivery of some of the delayed ones. But the 4 stay cancelled in the book.

Thanks for bringing me up to speed on that.
