When I read the thread title, I swear I mistook it for some kind of new innovative wing technology introduced on the 737MAX.

I will come with some rummours.... They do have 7 MAXes grounded which were already in use and another 7 are standing on one of the Boeings tarmacs - all should have been delivered until end of May. Those 14 represent close to 25% of the fleet.... so they are one of the most affected ones. The highly published SoutWest has 34 MAXes grounded but it is out of 734 planes so only 4 % of the fleet ! The rumour I wanted to share is that while negotiating with Boeing, the only compensation they were able to achieve until now is the "promise" for part of the compensation while taking those planes already manufactured, the rest with new orders (!!!) - and they are "believed to be" due to that in very bad situation. For sure not a penny of cash in compenstation ! Another thing is that they do believe the grounding will be in effect until spring 2020 - for sure longer than end of this year. But this is a speculation as good as any other one..... 5 stored in PRG - 2 are stored elsewhere

When a manufacturer owes some compensation to a customer, it's quite frequently paid as an additional discount on upcoming deliveries or purchases of services.
