This makes very little sense why they would reconsider the decision to order the plane after being taken over by a large aircraft maker with more extensive support network such as Airbus. The only thing that I can think of is if they want to see whether Airbus changes anything about the A220.

I'm going to attempt to keep track of the A220 in the same level of detail as the A320 Family as of today and going forward. I have also included anything that has been Delivered after July 1, 2018. Its a lot more complicated but I think I have gotten the information correct (FlightAware is a lot more useful than FR24 in this case and helped me big time). You can always let me know if I have any errors. a320archive.com/?q=A220

The thing that has only just struck me watching this video is whether Airbus would want to introduce in the future to 'sync' A220 models feel via a sidestick controller to be consistent with A320s and above?

I don't think it will be done for any of their existing models. But perhaps it may appear on Airbus's future clean sheet models, if it doesn't cost more than the existing sidestick designs.

Is dual A220 and A320 Family Type Rating possible now or are modifications needed for future changes to make that a possibility?

The logic for FBW between two models are quite different..A220 is similar with 777.
