AIME on Sunday January 17 was coming back from SFO to Frankfurt, when the runway she was scheduled to land on was out of service. The reason was that an aircraft from a Chinese airline had skidded off the slippery runway on landing and had got stuck in the earth. Bild Zeitung must have reported on this on January 20. It seems Frankfurt Airport was a bit slow in handling the matter and seems to have tried not to tell anyone about what went wrong. Anyway, AIME was forced to go to Cologne that morning.
