Q. If the Angle of Attack sensor can give false readings, should all MAX pilots be issued with a spirit level as back up 🤔

Q. If the Angle of Attack sensor can give false readings, should all MAX pilots be issued with a spirit level as back up 🤔 A spirit level won't measure angle of attack. A windsock perhaps, if the pilot held it out of the window.

I can't believe it took President Donald Trump to initiate the common sense decision to ground the planes and not the actual experts at FAA! 🤦🤦🤦

Well it's a great opportunity to show command and control is it not? Underlying this however is the conundrum of why an aviation safety body would seemingly defer to a country leader and allow kudos to be gained from a tragic accident. The Boeing response might have been pre-written pending such an eventual decision (who knows?) but it's as expected. Whether or not the FAA truly had more 'satellite data' or not could also be debated but it's a great face-saving statement in the light of world-wide differing aviation safety opinion. I often defer to the Space Shuttle launch in unfavourable circumstances for comparative assessment of such events.
