And the order did not realised - was only spoken about. Let's hope the Airbus one will come to fruition.

Actually, there never was never any 787 order from EK. There was a LoI, which was never firmed, and which appears to have been a mere attempt at pressuring Airbus and possibly Rolls-Royce.

Assuming EK is indeed talking to Boeing about the 787-10, what does it mean ? As I don't believe EK would operate three new aircraft types, I see a twofold possibility : 1 - EK's negotiations with Airbus about its A339/A359 orders are still ongoing, and EK is applying some pressure. I am not convinced, since these orders are linked to the A380 order cancellation, but it's still a possibility. 2 - EK is trying to reduce its 778/779 order and a 787-10 order is part of the discussions. As the change would potentially add the 787 to the A330neo + A359 + 778/779, I am not convinced. That could however explain why Airbus' orders haven't been finalised yet : if EK ordered some 787s instead of some 778s/779s, it might take more A350s (potentially A359s + A35Ks) instead of A339s ...

Can't believe there was still no thread for EK B787s? Created one and moved a few posts
