You mean an A380 lose 2 tons weight during taxi and accelerating? Amazing, never heard about this. Well, just think about your car, and the gas it uses accelerating. Cruising is fine but when you encounter a lot of trafficlights...... An A380 accelerating from 0 to take-off speed, I'm pretty sure that uses up a lot of fuel.

See it this way: the engineers made it possible to fuel 2 more tons if needed - there's space for that. You - as the captain- are able to load max. 2 tons more in case you need them. May be, you only order 10 gallons more. Or less
