This is a really interesting idea and potentially feasible idea for long-haul. It's probably not prone to the diversity of inter-airline short-haul practices, particularly of LOCO flights, on landing diversions in bad weather An ' All for one and one for all' attitude is needed.

This is interesting. These airplanes wont be delivered for another two years. How could this virus be affecting the order? Cant the order be made and deferred if 1 year from. Ow the aviation world is still in tatters...it didn't say how long a delay was requested though...

Looking at the cheap tickets available now around the world, and all airlines will fight for passengers when the virus start to ease. How many business passengers each day on these direct routes? For holiday makers, adding one stop to Australia could mean hundreds of pounds/euro cheaper per person, will you still fly direct?
It will even harder for Qantas to launch this direct service now, all calculation and price tag need to be shift to the left, no guarantee to make any profit on this route for the next few years. Knowing this, would you still order these new planes?
