Why Engine run always has a lot of smoke? The whole engine is cold, so the combustion is at a low temperature as well. This causes a bad combustion, the gases don't burn properly and create particles. Most of the white smoke you see is water though (kerosine = hydrocarbon which burns to H2O and CO2), which the cold air can't accomodate. This effect is increased by the not burned particles in the air, where water tends to condense. It's the same with cars when you start them in the winter. XWB: Burning oil creates blue smoke. Cheers!

The burning of the preservative oils takes place at the first start of any engine in Toulouse. They are not protected again as the manufacturer did before delivery.
