Hopefully I don't sound too naive with my question but China traffic is rebounding now and they have a lot of people travelling. Why would a Chinese airline retire it's A380 at this moment? They are ready, crews are ready, spare parts and such, it is easier than to buy and integrate new airplanes if you have some existing fleet. China domestic air travel is above 2019 as we speak.

According to today's annual financial statement, CZ will keep all 5 A380s with no change until the end of 2023 (the end of the report forecast period).

Sadly, Chinese news channels have reported that all 5 A380s will be retired by the end of the year from CZ fleet.
They quoted that the contract has already been signed, make you wonder whether there is a buy back clause from Airbus.

According to a follower in China on my Twitter account, B-6136 and 6137 will be ferried to Victorville on Thursday.

In its February traffic numbers released today, CS said it phased out (only) 1 A380, without specifying the registration number. But we know two have left for Victorville.
