New costumers in China are an interresting topic, but I wonder if and how it should have an impact the product development;-)

kronus Thank you for sharing, a very good article indeed.
I just can't see where Chinese airlines could use A380 on their international routes. There aren't enough premium customers on Chinese carrier if they want to expand the F & J cabin. On the other hand, there need to be a lot of discount to fill in the rest of the cabin if majority are Y seats, the competition is very strong.
Chinese tourist are very seasonal (most demand are during Chinese New Year period from PVG, summer holiday period from PEK and PVG, and then October "long-holiday" from PEK and PVG), but they are very much one way traffic - fly out of PEK/PVG at the beginning of the holiday period, and return to China at the end of the holiday.
That doesn't make A380 operation viable at all, so I can't really see where the demand would be. A large fleet of A330 (&neo) and B77W would be the best solution, not so expensive either.
By the way, the fleet chart shows, Singapore Airlines has 17 in service, 3 on order, 3 in active and 2 option. I've only recorded 1 option. it should be 4 on order, 1 option, then 2 more will be retire, isn't it?
Etihad has no options, can anyone confirm that?

There is one sentence repeating what I expected to be the cause "A failed bid to sell the A350 to Emirates hinged on commitment to keep the A380 line open." i.e. who needs the A380 sale more : Airbus or Emirates ? My guess is the EK - but as always we will see. I very strongly doubt we will see new A380 deal to China, but I do believe we will see many A350s going there.

I don't think any reporter was privy to the negociations between Airbus and EK. That EK linked an A350 order to a commitment from Airbus to keep the A380 FAL open is pure speculation - if a reliable source could have been quoted, the story would have been printed. Remember, the same was said a few years ago about the A380neo.

Kind of interesting that PIA opped for the A380 to show off their new livery (1:45 onwards):
Makes me wonder if they are considering adding some to their fleet.

Bamboo Airways wants to buy A380 to fly to the USA with it but it will be used The story actually says they want to lease (one ? more ?) used A380. It could be a short term lease.
