A very interesting piece. - The 840 seats all-economy version ordered by Air Austral has been dropped. The stated reason is the risk to lose premium customers, even on non-A380 flights, not a perceived difficulty to achieve a satisfactory load factor. - A comfortable Premium economy (presently at 8 abreast) is considered of paramount importance to Air Austral. - No decision has been made about the A380 order : it has not been cancelled, but no solution is being ruled out ... I also learned that the B777-200 LR which the airline ordered, but never took delivery of, had been sold ...

I don't think these will ever be built, Air Austral wants out but is probably trying to save its deposit

Couldn't they go on with the purchase, and if not needed either resell it brand new, that way they might lose some money but maybe less than losing the deposits to Airbus? Or could they also rent them then?... Fabien

Fabien that's a big risk, a carrier want to specify the build spec on an aircraft from the get go and not but a "nearly new" frame. this works in a rising market like the B777F where demand is greater than capacity but if you want an A380 all you have to do is ask Airbus and they will beat a path to our door.
