I don't know what to think of this purported new development. There is some confusion, since in the first paragraph they write "Malaysia Airlines will continue to fly its Airbus A380s to London", while in the last one it's just the opposite : "Malaysia Airlines still intends to pull the Airbus A380s off the Kuala Lumpur-London route in early 2018".
Is MH seeing growth again, or did they find out there were too many flaws in their high-density A380s project, or both ?
If MH does keep its six A380s on mainline routes, then where are they going to fly their A350s ?
Or is it just rumours treated as serious by the Australian business traveller ?

And now the A350s are stuck with a First Class product it doesn't need.

For 2 daily flight of KUL-LHR, A380 + A350 mix would be possible to meet the demand
A380 on MH2/3 A350 on MH4/1

An update on MH's use of the A380 on pilgrimage flights. -Current flights to Jeddah and Medina are being filled -A separate charter brand for the operation is due to be established late this year or early next year. -This separate entity will likely use 4 A380 (so interestingly that'll leave 2 A380s for MH) -Any reconfiguration will take place in 2020 as the aircraft go through maintenance although it's possible that a reconfiguration won't be required www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-01-21/airbus-s-superjumbo-finds-new-life-on-malaysia-air-pilgrim-trips

So, MH's latest plan is to operate pilgrim flights without any cabin reconfiguration, at least for a while. I suppose they found the cost was too high, which is no surprise. BA recently rejected the purchase of second-hand A380s for the same reason.
Keeping the same configuration across the A380 fleet has another advantage : the aircraft can switch between main line and charter operation, depending on demand (for instance, high season in main line, low season in chartered operation).
MH however has changed plans several times. Is this plan final ?
