And from CH Aviation. Quote "Icelandair (FI, Reykjavik Keflavik) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Airbus to order thirteen A321-200NY(XLR)s with a further 12 options, and plans to additionally source at least four A321-200NX(LR)s from lessors to replace its B757 fleet. Deliveries of the (XLR)s from the manufacturer will begin in 2029. However, the first four (LR)s are expected to join the fleet in 2025. Icelandair said it was in "advanced negotiations" regarding the first four units, while "further additions can be expected in the years thereafter". This is big news from and for Icelandair. It was one of the most loyal Boeing users.
It also spells the death of the NMA, because if Icelandair gives up to wait for it, it is a sure sign, that the NMA will never come.
I expect the A321 to replace all the passenger 757-200, 757-300 and 767-300.

Icelandair have signed for another 1 x A321LR from SMBC (for a total of 5 on order thru SMBC) Quote AirInsight - "Icelandair and SMBC announced they concluded a long-term lease to add another A321LR to the airline’s fleet. Delivery is scheduled for 1Q26, the airline’s fifth A321LR from SMBC. In July 2023, Icelandair signed a contract with Airbus for up to 25 Airbus A321XLRs. A deal was also announced with SMBC for four A321LRs at that time. The first A321LR is scheduled to be delivered this year...." Full Article - airinsight.com/icelandair-adds-another-a321lr/

Icelandair is preparing for the upcoming introduction of the A321neos Quote Flight Global - "Icelandair is reinforcing its training regime ahead of introducing Airbus single-aisle jets with an A320neo-family simulator. The full-flight simulator will be supplied by CAE. Icelandair is planning to bring in A321neo variants from next year, having previously firmed a commitment to 13 A321XLRs which it will receive from 2029. Its selection of the CAE simulator is unsurprising; the carrier has a joint training venture with CAE in Reykjavik, in the vicinity of Keflavik airport, which has focused on Boeing 757, 767 and 737 Max operations...."
