It's not an illusion, the GTF engine is indeed larger than other engines for airplanes of this size.

What I find truly impressive about this engine is the amount of daylight seen through front of the fan. A relatively big fan for a smallish core. Gives me the impression that it would be somewhat lighter than any other engine if they were made to the same size.

The closest is RB211-535, with fan tip diametre 186 or 188 cm depending on model. (PW2000 is bigger, with 199 cm fan diametre). If you compare CSeries and Boeing 757 side by side, how does Rolls weight and transparency compare to the GTF?

It seems to me that Bombardier has spent the six month delay wisely. CS100 har grown in cabin length (about a meter), while CS300 har grown both in fuselage and cabin length, meaning capacity is increased. MTOW is also slightly higher

I've not come across the actual weight figures for the GTF, but if you compare it to the 757 engine, it's got a lot fewer fan blades and presumably lots of weight saved. Also the core appears slightly bigger in the rolls.

CSeries specifications have been changed - as stated above, the plane is stretched, CS100 inside and CS300 inside and out.
The current specifications:
CS100: List price 62 million US$ Cabin length stretched from 22,7 m to 23,7 m. Outer length unchanged at 34,9 m Cabin aisle height lowered from 213 cm to 211 cm. Centerline width unchanged at 328 cm, and so is floorline width at 310 cm. Floor area increased from 70 to 72 square m Slight MTOW increase, from 58 151 kg to 58 513 kg. A "Base" version added, with the lower MTOW of 52 617 kg Range at 110 passengers at 102 kg each unchanged at 5463 km. The "Base" version, with the same payload, has range of 2778 km The takeoff distance, despite increased MTOW, is decreased from 1509 m to 1463 m (SL, ISA). The "Base" version manages takeoff in 1219 m, at SL, ISA.
