he can take those coming off lease from Emirates...not an option? Air France wants to get rid of 5...or he wants brand new aircrafts cheap...let us see how this pays out. he will very well get what he wants in the end..I think..

he can take those coming off lease from Emirates...not an option? Air France wants to get rid of 5 British Airways has Rolls-Royce engines, whereas all early EK A380s, as well as all AF frames, have Engine Alliance engines. That's why a deal is unlikely. Let us see how this pays out. If intended, this is a very nice pun !

We all know WW wants ultra low price, he is driving IAG towards low cost model and chasing profit (rightly for the shareholders and wrongly for passengers, but that's another debate).
At the moment, IAG is the only major airlines on the market openly praised A380 and saying that they welcome more new frames. They did explore second hand market particularly with frames from MH and SQ, we can only assume that the rent on offer was too high, or more likely, the reconfiguration cost is far too high.
So I see WW's offer is throw in a life line to Airbus to give A380 production line a soft landing/closure.
The reason I say that is because AB still has contract to delivery 33 frames to EK and at least 14 of those are in different stage of building already (including two already done). The delivery plan is 25 frames to EK until end of 2025, the final 8 frames are 2026 and onwards. Even with 6 frames per year, AB will have 16 slots unfilled from 2021 to 2025. They could lose huge amount of money if that happens.
No doubt in the new negotiation, if EK is going to cancel the 36 (20+16) order, AB will push to delivery the final batch of frames earlier. But EK only took 32 deliveries from 2008 to 2012, only some of them may need to be replaced by 2025. While cancelling the order of 36, EK may keep more frames in their fleet, so their capability of taking more frames before 2025 is very questionable.
To keep the 3000 jobs around A380 production line and slowly transfer them to other jobs, taking 10-15 order from IAG at ultra low price (even below production cost) may not make any profit for AB, but it would solve huge headache for AB and potential lost.
This time WW has the best opportunity to get the deal he always wanted, and it's not a bad one for AB either.

British Airways is interested in leasing six used Airbus A380 Walsh is definitely negotiating in public ! He praises the A380 (trying to talk its price down), and the MAX (hoping for a firesale price).

I have heard people familiar with China Southern airlines, they have been in talk with BA and QR for selling out their A380 fleet.
