There may be technical issues, but I think one major reason for the new timeline is Brazil's fiscal situation. In short, I believe the government must put off military projects.
Will the Gripen project be immune ? I don't think so.

So they currently cannot pay for aircraft orders? Hopefully export sales can step in. Can it inflight refuel helicopters?  |

The only firm orders are from the Brazilian air force, but at the moment the budgetary crisis does not allow them to even pay their overdue debts to Embraer. Of course, the political crisis does not help. A future new government will have to review the project, though support for Embraer is strong in Brazil. |

KC-390 landing in AERO Vodochody - near Prague - factory which used to make all the L29, L39, L159... later fuselages for Sikorski and they make the back part of KC-390 fuselage, all the doors, significant parts of the wings (about what Spirit makes for AB/BO).....  and one more on the ground  |
