This is one of the best pictures yet to compare A320neo engine types, though the LEAP 1A looks much smaller than it is.

Both engine types still look to BIG for the airframe though. I think the old style torpedo style of engine on the 737-100 and Bac 1-11 etc looked better?

We'll get used to that engine size. When the -neo prevails in airports, we'll find previous generation narrowbodies had undersize engines.

New narrow bodies are probably 50% bigger than the old ones ? That's why they need bigger engines. And of course people are Now 25% heavier as well Thanks McDonalds, Starbucks etc etc etc !

The -neo and the MAX are not really larger than their predecessors. They will carry more pax in the same cabin, thanks to new slimmer seats, new galleys and bathrooms and ... passengers accepting to travel in sardine-like condition for a cheaper ticket.

I was talking about the B737-200 and BAC1-11 etc with the torpedo engines, I got the % wrong but the newer ones are 30% longer and heavier ! See below.
