The factory is a replica of Hamburg and Tianjin isn't it? Maybe all the time is needed to qualify and certify all those new production workers? It should be more advanced and automated than both XFW and TSN. The new FAL in XFW should be a copy of BFM.

Don't they test and validate any new A320 stuff at Hamburg first? Wasn't the automated fuselage join machine first put in one of the Hamburg lines ? And Mobile as a new FAL has it too ?

Don't they test and validate any new A320 stuff at Hamburg first? I don't think so, I believe the shipsets go to Mobile directly. They are sent by ship ! As regards the factory itself, it must be the most efficient ... once it is at full production.

You are right, found this on Flight Global re the Mobile FAL - Quote - The production system is identical to the process used at the other three A320 assembly sites with one key change. Airbus is qualifying an automated drilling machine at wing-to-body join position, replacing a manual process to drill about 2,400 holes where the sections meet. If the automated system works, Airbus plans to retrofit the other A320 assembly lines with the same technology.

Does anyone know what the new work is beyond the control tower? It appears to be outside the boundary of the Airbus site shown in red outline on p1 of this thread.
