Yes I was imagining a modified A340, not necessarily Belufa-way but cargo might do, Airbus might have the time to think about it the time the factory is built. Or just a 330F would do?..... Fabien

It appears Airbus is currently studying the concept of an A330 Beluga There was a thread on Airliners.net recently discussing a new beluga based on a presentation someone acquired. www.airliners.net/aviation-forums/general_aviation/read.main/5682703/1/#1Go to reply 48 for a link to download the presentation Flight global article here (free registration required for full content) www.flightglobal.com/news/articles/airbus-leans-towards-a330-200-to-replace-beluga-fleet-382215/Airbus is considering building new belugas and at this stage it will most likely be based on the A330-200 (Larger aircraft would struggle to operate out of Broughton Airport in certain conditions). With the current A300 fleet, Airbus is trying to double their flying time as production increases and the fleet is currently scheduled to be retired in 2025. It appears that Airbus will not be using the new belugas for flights to Mobile as on page 5 of the presentation detailing the needs of the new beluga, the line "4880NM ESAD/32t Payload->Toulouse -Mobile" was crossed out and to the right was "Update; European network only". Also included in the presentation was a timeline which stated; - Solution Decision-Q2 2013 (for announcement at the Paris Airshow Maybe? ?) - Assembly+FF readiness from Q3 2016 - Q3 2018 - Flight test, Q3 2018 - Q1 2019

There was also a smal message in the last AERO International (number 4) that Airbus want to change to an other airplane type. A340 and A330-300 is to big. The A330-200 is the best plain to replace the current typ.

Jetblue to get first US assembled A320 in early 2016. They're certainly the most excited American Airbus customer.
