Either or both. It is not a singleton, it is an add on order. They are flying 9 B747-8F, had two still on order and are now ordering one more. Cargolux bought, or better leased, one stored white tail B747-400ERF, MSN1416 the last of its breed, last October, they seem to be expanding. Ah, so perhaps they are conversions of some agreement that was part of their original orders? If I recall, they had originally ordered 10, then ordered another 3. So now they will have an eventual fleet of 14. Are those two original orders also related or add-on? Yeah, regarding 1416, I think they picked her up for the Christmas rush when it took much longer than expected for the PIP to certify than everyone originally thought, thus delaying the delivery of many of those PIP'd frames. They are still using the 1416. Cargolux still have or lease two 747-400BCF, I think they got them in 2011 because of delays with the B747-8F. IMO they would get rid of the BCF rather than the 747-400F.

An interesting FG article from a few days ago. It talks about LH accelerating their deliveries. I would think this tracks with their statements that they are happy with the frames and what it provides to them and their passengers. I would suppose they are trying to get as many PIP'd frames into the fleet as quickly as possible as well. Has anyone seen anything about them planning to retrofit the PIP onto their existing frames? Or is that just something that they do during regular scheduled maintenance if they are planning on doing it?

I recall reading the PIP will be retrofitted during the next major maintenance overhaul.

I recall reading the PIP will be retrofitted during the next major maintenance overhaul. Sorry for the stupid question: what means PIP?

Looks like TK is reiterating their years long evaluation of whether or not they need 380s or 747-8s. This time, it was mentioned live in an interview. :-)

Taking off from EAP today, I saw a B747-8I (passenger) all white parked in a remote area, any idea what it could be?... Fabien

Most probably one of the VIP ones but unfortunately I don't have the details where the ones delivered are distributed around the VIP outfitting centers
