what a pity... Could this somehow politically force canadian airlines to order it, to assure some orders and maintain national economics?...

I think that's only possible if the Canadian government owns those airlines. Otherwise you can't really force a company to buy certain products.

It is really bad news for CS series. Let's hope it will survive, since I do believe it is good for everyone to have some competition in all segments.

I dont't think there is much risk to the CSeries programme, which has reached the point of no-return. BBD's situation, however, now looks somewhat shaky. The paradox is that the aircraft could be a success in the future, while the company is struggling in the short term.

And Air Canada is not interested in ordering CSeries.

One key aspect of this issue is the cancellation clauses in the contract. If BBD were late with deliveries of the CSeries, Republic might be entitled to cancel without any penalty. They actually might be waiting for this to happen.

I phrased my previous post wrongly - I had in mind ....for BBD not specifically for CS-series.
We know what is the situation with CRJs and Q400s.

And Air Canada is not interested in ordering CSeries. I don't remember that, did you read it somewhere?.. Thanks XWB! I'm really confused about what the press relates about Republic Airways' order, in that footage/link the CEO Bryan Bedford really praises the plane and says he can't wait to receive the first of their CS300?!... "it's thrilling honestly to see this aircraft in person" "we've waited for so long to be able to get an experience of the quiet game changer nature of the highly fuel efficient P&W engines on this product" "the airplane is going to be everything that we've hoped" "it's an inspirational plane" "we're really excited to see it" "excited to get our employees engaged around the aircraft" "it's been a terrific day" "great opportunity for our employees to see the CS100" "get a taste about what the future is going to offer when we see the first of our CS300 arrive" "well done to our friends at Bombardier it's a wonderful product, can't wait see the next one (~CS300~)" I don't get it, wth??...... I would more believe something said from the CEO in person than a transcripted interview copied from somewhere that was copied from somewhere that was read/seen elsewhere.... It seems to me that Republic Airways is really excited about their new plane and their are indeed going to take delivery of the CS300
