Press release = marketing. No doubt the CS300 is a wonderful aircraft.
The interview with the CEO is pretty clear to me:
Republic Airways is currently in the progress of moving to 1 certificate by 2016 as part of a cost cutting plan.
That's impossible with 1 operating certificate.

I remember all these... Though, all these report something said on the phone. They can imagine and write everything they like, I'm not saying they invented it, I am just so surprised seeing total different words from the person himself. I would more trust the footage seeing him speaking than a report saying that somebody had him on the phone, etc...

Well, what else did you expect him to say during a CSeries visit? It would be bad publicity if he said something like 'nice aircraft but we will never take it'. Sure it's a wonderful aircraft, but that's doesn't mean they will still take it. The company is changing, and so will their outstanding orders.
I fully trust a respected news agency like Bloomberg. They phone with Boeing and Airbus on regular basis as well, for example.

Couldn't they (Republic Airways) just cancel the FTV4's visit?...

And Air Canada is not interested in ordering CSeries. I don't remember that, did you read it somewhere?.. The CSeries was part of their latest RFP and they selected the 737 MAX. It was also said that CSeries does not fit their route network.

Thanks XWB, oups I was under the feeling that the MAX would cover replacement of their narrow-body Airbus fleet, still leaving some hope for the replacement of the Embraers ( a380.boards.net/post/23465/thread ), though this might be covered indeed by the options and purchase rights of the MAX......

I do believe that it is really just replacing the A320/319/321 fleet - actually they do have more planes than the new order. OK they might consider some growth etc... + those options. The 320S are very old - most of them 23-24 years - most of so old ones are for some time scraped.... and there is 41 of those. ( OK there is 6 pcs of not so old ones...) The 319 are a bit younger but not much and there is 35 of those. The 321 are 10 years younger, so they will probably last for some time. The E190s are young - average 7,2 years - so I would guess they still have some time for replacement and they might consider the 737MAX-7 for that. While writing this I have found www.thestar.com/business/2014/05/15/loonie_drags_air_canada_down_to_firstquarter_loss_of_341m.htmlWhich states what I have written a few minutes before reading the article. By the way is it known how many and what 737MAX models they are taking ?
