Checks required after Air France A380 engine blade failures By David Kaminski-Morrow6 January 2020 www.flightglobal.com/news/checks-required-after-air-france-a380-engine-blade-failures/136005.article Investigators have yet to establish the root cause of a fan-blade fracture involved in an engine failure affecting an Air France Airbus A380. The US FAA states that the reason for the first-stage low-pressure compressor blade fracture is “still undetermined” in an interim directive requiring further precautionary action on Engine Alliance GP7200 powerplants.

Air France confirmed on Feb 20 that two more A380’s will be retired this year. I attended the press conference in Paris. On take-off for Amsterdam I saw these two parked. Not sure if they are the next two.
Update: checking the flight history of AF’s A380’s, this must be HPJA (last active Feb 18) and HPJI (Feb 10).

Air France confirmed on Feb 20 that two more A380’s will be retired this year. I understand AF owns the A380s it is retiring, as part of the one-off charge they are taking is an impairment charge. Even so, they might make a different choice for the next frames if the highest bid is not the scrapper's.

And the retired HPJB was not owned by AF, it was leased from Dr.Peters Group.

How nice of Air France to send an A318 to pick up the crews, it saves them a loooong drive back to Paris
