Is it possible to start a thread for the BA 787? Or will it just get covered through normal channels? Could be worth it as there is so much interest in it.... Well, you are posting here, so I don't understand the question. The thread was created/separated from the old thread after sunjet 's post.

The point seems to be you need a factory coloured nacelle with coloured material, not a painted one. BA might be able to order their custom colour from the factory. I'm not sure if I understand you there, but IIRC BA's 787 frame was rolled off the assembly line with pale grey coloured engines. The blue was only recently painted. My two cents: The pale grey coloured engine covers were stock material. The blue covers came in too late. I don't think the covers were painted but replaced

They were probably held together by Home Depot fasteners too until the blue ones arrived! Jokes aside, I'm thinking it was painted. According to this Flightglobal article... If it was just swapping the parts, it wouldn't need to go through paint facility.

Boeing flighline from yesterday: www.flickr.com/photos/moonm/8698235522/sizes/o/in/photostream/Notice that G-ZBJB is unpainted and has light grey nacelles. It looks to me like they are painting rather than replacing the nacelles. Surely even if they had replaced the nacelles on G-ZBJA they would have ordered enough parts considering that they know that there are 4 BA 787s in various stages of production at the moment.

Could it be expected in June? I think it hasn't flown yet?... Fabien
