There are many rumors whether Qantas their ordered A380 frames also decreases. I personally don't believe it. However, the situation with Qantas appears to be significantly better through cooperation with Emirates. Of course, I know that there is no secure information to this topic. Still, it has become very quiet. So, I would be very interested what is your opinion on this topic. Cheers TP1

Qantas has ordered the units finally.

I believe the remaining A380's on order will replace the last 747's at the end of the decade.

With so many EK frames flying back and forth (and of course other operators too!) does Qantas need/want more A380s? From Australia, the only A380 flights (excluding QF) are from DXB-SYD-AKL, DXB-MEL-AKL, SIN-SYD, SIN-MEL and soon CAN-SYD. All of these flights (except AKL flights) are part of the kangaroo route between Australia and the UK. Unless Qantas management decides to weaken the airline further, for at least the next 10 years, I think we will continue to see Qantas operate daily flight from both MEL and SYD to LHR with the A380 and thus the impact of QF and other airlines flying the A380 to Australia is minimal. As stated by XWB, Qantas will be using the A380 to replace the 747 which off the top of my head currently operates from SYD-DFW, SYD-LAX-JFK, Syd-SCL, SYD-JNB, SYD-NRT and SYD-HKG. Most of these routes will be replaced with A380 flights, or in the case of flights to Asia, they may be down gauged to A330s or eventually 789s. However the A380 will remain the backbone of flights to LHR, LAX and assist in growth into Asia. They may also be the only options for QF to replace the 744 on flights from SYD-JNB and SCL where ETOPS restrictions will limit flights by twins. From this news report last year, the A380s have been deferred until 2016 www.smh.com.au/business/qantas-delays-a380-deliveries-to-cut-spending-by-400m-20120504-1y2ln.html

There was also a report from Qantas, wanting to start A380 services from BNE to LAX. About QF's deliveries, the first delay was putting #13 and #14 for delivery in 2013 and #15-20 between July2018 and June2019 (Financial Year), however now #13 and #14 are now planned for the Financial Year July2016/June2017. During this second delay it wasn't specified anything about #15 to #20, so I guess we can assume that they stayed the same. Fabien

I will agree with Jkkw and XWB, A380s will replace B744s and especially the ER ones, but according to wikipedia those aren't replaceable before 2018. Fabien

So hopefully in 2015/16 we can observe again Qantas frames in TLS and XFW
