2016 is too soon. Qantas has recently refurbished 9 747-400 aircraft with the same seats as their A380's. These aircraft are all quite young and will remain in service until the end of the decade. This was part of Qantas' cost-cutting program. The remaining A380's on order will eventually replace those 747's, but not until the end of the decade.

Qantas currently has 16 744s and even though they are in the process of being retired, I doubt the fleet will be retired down to the 9 refurbished frames anytime soon with the current routes. This decision to defer was definately a cost cutting measure however with Qantas looking to a financial turnaround in the international arm within two years, (see here) 2016 may be achievable financially for QF to resume deliveries. Of course this is just my opinion and time will tell when they will resume deliveries.

Andrew Cohen (@andrewc75) from Georgia tweeted on Wednesday May 22 his wife noticed a Qantas A380 at Minneapolis, with doors open on the apron. He had a picture, but I am SO careful using some elses pictures right now... Apparently there were even two of them. The registration is unreadable, but does anyone have a clue which aircaft was there and why? I haven't been able to trace a stop at KMSP through other sources.

I had a ultra-very-quick look at www.theqantassource.com/ but didn't find, you may find if you read a little farther/longer than I did lol... Fabien

Sorry folks, just read some more tweets of @andrewc75. His lady tried to be funny. No A380 at Minneapolis yesterday. I already found it strange that there wasn't any confirmation. Wing fix Qantas is done in Manila, where OQB is right now for her fourth week to have a cabin reconfiguration.

Is QF will resume the A380 deliveries? How many do they have now?
