The above is the first picture I see showing both EK-used types in parallel flight. Is there a trick or is it sheer luck ?

It was taken over Iran, likely in the small corridor next to Irak there most of the ME-EUR traffic goes if it takes the northern route. I guess you have just to wait some minutes right after DXB bank time to get a picture like this.
