Last month, the CEO of TK said they have everything on order to cover the fleet growth until 2020. So I don't expect a VLA order from TK, nor an 787 or A350 order in the near future. Secondly, the new airport in Istanbul has to be ready first to support the A380.

I'd say Leahy is speaking like this only with some serious background knowledge about upcoming orders. While he might sound a bit assertive he is typically only talking about real stuff. Having said that there is still a lot of daily stuff that can interfere with or delay orders that were looking like being firmed up soon before. For me some A380 top off order by Emirates is a given this year. Paris or Dubai but 2013.

But, in the same article, he also said that if the price is right, they might buy some A380s too.

From today's global market forecast, John Leahy confirmed that there are still some slots for the end of 2015 which are available for current customers (as long as the interior remains the same). He also thinks (knows?) that these will be filled by the end of the year. (Lufthansa's order for 2 maybe)

(Lufthansa's order for 2 maybe) It would be interesting to know which production pace is being targeted in 2015, and how many deliveries are already scheduled. I suppose that the talk about "available slots" is an attempt to boost sales ... The offer is available for current customers only, perhaps because lead times are longer for a new customer. If it was not for its present airport constraints, I am sure that EK would scoop up the opportunity !

And 1.5 to 2.5 years is also a bit short for a new customer to introduce a big aircraft like the A380.

Philidor - My intel says that Airbus is targeting to build 29 aircraft in 2013; 30 - in 2014; 30 in 2015; 30 in 2016. This is second hand but from a very reliable source in the Airbus Supply Chain - here in North America (verbal only). Will it stay firm? Who knows? Depends on Mr. Leahy and selling more of these superjumbos in a timely manner. But if anyone can do it Leahy can! Right on John Leahy!! Beating the next gen 747 is not going to be difficult!! I sound like a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader (sans their physical attributes - as an aging male) - stateside. I always wax poetic about the A380 - wonderful flying machine! I have seen it fly at Farnborough and Le Bourget - more than once.

Thank you, vlafollower.
On the other hand, remember that the number of frames built in a given year does not necessarily match the number of deliveries. For instance, Airbus intends to deliver 25 frames only in 2013 because the factories were understocked at yearend 2012, following the temporary closure of the Broughton factory last year. Your information that 29 frames are being built in 2013 seems to be roughly consistent with the recent pace of convoys to TLS.

I assume Airbus still sits at Kingfisher's deposits as why they haven't cancelled the A380 order?
