Kingfisher's down payments are only part of the picture. It is not for a supplier to officially pronounce a customer dead. This requires a legal decision. As long as Kingfisher is not officially dissolved or bankrupt, Airbus has no legal ground to cancel the orders, and must keep them in its books. If/when Kingfisher is officially bankrupt, does Airbus have legal grounds to cancel the orders, or are the orders then property of the bankrupt estate which the liquidators can sell to any airline? I will not try to answer your question. The first issue is contract law : is the sales contract governed by Indian law or, as often in major sales, by some other law ? If it is Indian law, any prediction requires understanding Indian bankruptcy laws and trying to second-guess Indian courts rulings (unless an international arbitration process takes place)... Then you have interference between contract law and bankruptcy laws ... That's too many unknowns ....

I got it. Airbus's November orders and deliveries summary. Doesn't show the 50 unit order. Not a big deal. There may be some final tweaking of the sales contract. You can bet that Airbus has a memo of understanding - to allow the ordering of long lead materials - formal contract to follow - my guess. Could be hung up on the performance guarantees - fuel economy - reliability etc. Max of two year lead time for base assembly components- probably the landing gear(forgings and machining), or could be the turbine engines (but Emirates hasn't selected engine yet) - start deliveries in 2016 on this order from what I have read.

Goal for this year is for 30 deliveries and hence at least 30 orders for a book to bill greater than 1

Seems like the 5 to Kingfisher "finally" are cancelled, making the official orderbook more realistic

Doric's 20 A380s order now to be firmed in Q1 2014. That would leave ten orders to reach the 2014 target.
