If my documentation is true, this "first bird" from a new airline was the fastest in the FAL. I think MSN152-OZ1 is still the fastest HoV through FAL, the 3 fastest: TG1 MSN087 12w+0d OZ1 MSN152 11w+6d BC1 MSN162 12w+1d... Fabien

Fabien Any idea of time between body join and FAL rollout for the frames above? If MSN162 arrived at Toulouse on 18th Dec 2013, the body join tool was occupied. The frame preceding MSN162 - MSN158 - didn't transfer to FAL 1 until 13th Jan 2014 (if we accept the images on Flickr from A380_TLS_A350). If we accept that MSN162 spent 3 weeks doing nothing after arrival at Toulouse, my figures show actual construction time as 9 weeks 0 days. Time spent pre body join is surely dependent on the body join tool being vacant, which must rely on a FAL 1 spot being vacant. I've seen pictures of post FAL 1 sitting on the flight line, but not post body join frames. MSN160 appeared to have waited 11 days to enter body join, MSN166 12 days (I'm limited by the images on Flickr), so EY1 should get the top spot for the fastest HOV frame. So, construction time must surely start from the body join. It's not fair to add 3 weeks to MSN162 purely because it was waiting for MSN158.

Welcome back noistar! I would agree in fact, but I guess we are limited as nobody can know when Body Join exactly starts, unless we have (brilliant-)pictures of the previous frame getting out of Body Join, assuming that the frame then is entering the Body Join in the same day, and also these pictures aren't made available for all frames unfortunately........ So to make it even we usually count from the convoy arrival....... Fabien

I think Fabien is right. It would be great to have a detailed break-up of construction time, but we cannot count on having detailed information at all stages on a regular basis.
The specific A380 production set-up already allows us to track convoy arrival to TLS, roll-out from FAL, first flight, transfer flight to HFW, roll-out after outfitting/painting, CFF and subsequent test flights, CAF, delivery flights. We thus have a much more detailed knowledge of production issues of the A380 than of any other aircraft. We cannot expect the same level of information about A350 production because transports by Belougas and production on one site will make for a less favorable context.
So, even if it is tempting to go into even more detailed A380 analyses, I think me might overeach if we did.

The pictures are always interesting. Confuses me how some frames move from body join to FAL 1 left-to-right, while others move from right-to-left. Assuming the 2 FAL 1 bays are adjacent (as in a picture of the layout I've seen) and not back-to-back, I wonder if some frames go for a ride Merely an observation which indicates how subjective 'arrival to FAL rollout' is. Would seem that Skymark , like Asiana, actually want their frame (other airlines appear to be half-hearted at times), so FF might not be long off!!!
