So entry in service is expected not before december (the article says "december next year" but I hope it's a typo), this explains why no BC's A380 are in TLS yet, there is not the hurry to start flying from August... I expect to have the HOV on one of the next two convoys anyway. My bet was for the very next one, but reading about their financial problems I'm now not too sure of that.. Cheers AOIspotter It is usual to run a new long distance type first on short distance trips, to train service personal and flight crew. We see on most airlines two month of this familiarizing before the first long haul trip starts. So if Skymark starts New York in the beginning of December, I expect them to want there first A 380 latest in the end of September. It is a HOV frame, so we have to expect more than nine month from convoy to delivery. So IMO we have to expect the convoy for MSN 162 this November and latest in the beginning of this December.

I (think I) read that Economy class cover the cost of a flight, leaving Business and First class as 'profit'. If so, wouldn't an all Premium Economy be feasible. Think of the (especially Emirates) customers who would love legroom and seat width. Anybody want to lease an A380 to try it out? I'll be CEO and put $100 up. Does Skymark want to give away any of their frames for wet lease? They do have business class in upper deck, but no economy. Where can you fly on a premium economy A380 for mere $100? What would Tokyo-Sapporo cost on A380 if Skymark uses A380 there?

If economy class pay for a flight and anything over and above is profit, surely an A380 offering purely premium economy would be practical. Part of the 'accommodation' would be cost, the rest profit. No overhead of Business Class frills, just a decent seat, which after all, should be an entitlement, not the luxury which Emirates seem intent on introducing. Am I naive to assume that a plane load of premium economy passengers would be happier than economy passengers shoe-horned into a 'normal' configuration? Wouldn't people queue for a decent journey experience?

While Skymark does have business class, being the biggest business class of A380 at 114 seats (compare 98 of Lufthansa), just how frilly is it? I've looked at few production lists and noticed that MSN 167, Skymark's #2 has no panned delivery yet. With their #1 in the Final Assembly already, one would assume that #2 should at least have a planned delivery date. Any thoughts on why is this uncertainty?

The uncertainty comes from the fact that BC-#1 was originally (from the end of 2010) planned for delivery in 2015-Q1, with BC-#2 planned for 2015 and BC-#3 and BC-#4 planned for 2016, and then (around early 2012) BC-#1 was put ahead in 2014-Q4, but nothing was and is read about BC-#2, I guess most likely it will be 2015 but who knows early and late 2015, and how many in 2015,...
