They probably only used the cargo holds I would imagine...They need a full conversion of the 2 pax decks as well...

Thanks for letting me know peter . I actually dislike many of his article about the A380, and the fact that he is a colleague of Aboulafia (I like how you call him Aboufoolia) brought me no surprise... Anyway, back to the topic, it seems feasible that the A380 can be converted to packaged freighter. It's indeed lovely to see that, as many A380s could be saved from the boneyard!

No A380 has been transformed (yet). The article clearly says "has now been awarded". And don't let the picture in the tweety thing fool you, that's a Lufthansa A330 "sans seats".

I asked Lufthansa Technik about more details on the A380-transformation. In a written statement they say:
"This project is not a full conversion in the sense of a future permanent use as a cargo aircraft, but a temporary operational change of use, similar to the example which you mentioned in your first question (A330's for Lufthansa - RS). Lufthansa Technik is providing technical and engineering expertise to enable the aircraft to be used temporarily as an auxiliary cargo aircraft by the customer with minor modifications and corresponding to the requirements of the aviation authorities."
So forget about the A380F, this is just seats out-cargo in.
