By the way, this once more indicates the A380 is the premium aircraft for EK (read the press release XWB linked to). Of course I, like all others on here I presume, am a big A380 fan and I go out of my way to be able to fly on it over anything else. But I also believe this is true for non-enthousiasts yet frequent flyers that can tell the difference. I have got the next 3 sectors on EK's 380 lined up. Unfortunately I couldn't avoid the 77W on the 4th sector - damn! In short, I am convinced the A380 can bring extra bookings to airlines operating it - provided they do it properly (hard and soft product).

It's often claimed by some that once the novelty factor wears off, people won't specifically ask for the plane. But I don't think this will be the case for the A380. It comes in limited numbers and on select routes. Enthusiasts won't pass up the opportunity to fly this rare bird whenever they get the chance. I don't think the same can be said for the 787 or the A350 though since they will eventually be operating in large numbers across many destinations, and so you're going to be flying on it more often. It's kind of like the 747 vs. the 767 or 777. The latter two are newer but I'd still try and get on the 747 over them if it is on the same route. I'm easily bored by the 777... . On a brighter note, I'm booked on my first -LR ever this summer...hopefully it's something to cheer about.

[Oh come on! At least, I will have bragging rights to having flown aboard the world's longest ranged aircraft, although it's going to be YYZ-LHR-YYZ... Well... It is still a noisy and cramped 777... If you didn't know by now I am not a big fan of any triple seven - as passenger that is. I do think it is a wonderful piece of engineering and the 77W is a money maker for lots of airlines, but that does not mean I enjoy to fly on it...

cramped 777... Well, lots of room in this one. Air Canada, 3-3-3, and I have the window. Quite like me. My other option was Air Transat, was quite cheap, and the outbound was my preferred 2-4-2 A330-300. But the inbound was that dreaded 3-3-3 A310 again. So it was a no no for me. In terms of passenger experience, my favourite plane has been the elegant 2-4-2 A340-600; yet to try the A380.

I tried my first 77L 2 months ago, I went to YYZ catch the flight to SYD but I stopped at YVR lol and went back to YEG... Though I would always prefer flying on the A310 and the B747, both endangered species... I had my first A310 a few months ago as well on a YYC to PVR, actually I flew there only to try the A310 lol....... I'm not a big fan of the 777 neither... I would always try to get any other plane than those. Fabien

I hope you weren't in that 3-3-3 coach. One thing I've learnt about those Air Transat A310s are that some of them are Ex-Emirates ones. I'm really curious about this, since I've flown on a couple of them way back in the early 90's when Emirates was just a tiny airline, like me, lol. I may never know if it was the same aircraft I boarded 20 years ago, but I do know that the TS one I flew last year was Ex-EK. I was wondering if any of you have had a similar experience where you revisit the same aircraft under a completely different airline several years later.
