Today it is the turn of G-XLEF to go to Durban to run training day flights. She is currently transferring to Durban as BAW9160: fr24.com/BAW9160Really intensive training since last week since it has been almot every day. On the other hand as I think I have already mentioned, it is a good usage of idle time in JNB since the bird spends the entire day down there.

G-XLEF (aka BA #6) at LHR gate C64 preparing to fly the BA269/268 rotation on August 4, 2014. A great flight with wonderful, warm & friendly Flight Attendants on a gorgeous and relatively new Speedbird!

Today I had my 1st flight (top deck, seat 82k) on an A380 specifiacally G-XLEF from LHR gate C65 to IAD flight BA217 after a smooth take off the 1st 180° curve from heathrow was very bumpy but once higher up and faster all was very smooth until just it became rather bumpy again before and during landing in IAD. The plane is certainly less noisy than its sisters the A330 and A340. The price for that is that the inner window pane is set back quite a bit compared to other planes. The economy rows on the top deck are in the 2 4 2 layout which is very comfortable like in the A330/A340s.
All in all it was a very enjoyable experience.
