It really looks like more shifts - to speed up the process ?

Looks like BA are in a hurry. Does that mean a late April delivery?

I might think that BA needs MSN151 to increase the services to LAX on 19th May, so delivery late April or early May... Fabien

I believe delivery is due on the 19th May Something tells me your date is off, especially if the 283/282 LAX rotation with an A380 starts on that day...

Welcome to the forum smrknyt, about the topic I'd say that if delivery is done early in the morning the aircraft could be ready for late afternoon departures, to HKG or JNB... of course, delivering it one or two day before could allow everyone to operate without too much stress! Time will tell, as usual.. Ciao! AOIspotter

I doubt they would press a new bird into long-haul service the day it gets delivered. At the very least, they're going to take it around to Maintenance and prepare it further. But we will see... Thanks for the welcome!

What can also happen sometimes is that an airline under-operate its frames and adding some additional frequencies a few days before a new frame delivered would still be okay... Though in that case apparently with 5 frames, BA operates one daily flight to HKG, one daily flight to LAX and one flight to JNB thrice a week, (a380flights.net) I think then indeed BA would actually need MSN151 to operate a second daily flight to LAX?... Fabien Later this year, I get my first crack at two A380 flights, and it happens to be on the LAX rotation. Living in LA, I have gotten the chance to see the new SpeedBirds arrive and depart several times, quite by chance. Suffice to say, I'm a little obsessed with my excitement, and have done more than the average person's research on the schedules… If you review the current rotations, you'll find that BA operates the delivered 5 birds pretty much daily. There is an opportunity for 1 (or 2) to sit in tech on Tuesdays & Wednesdays, as that is the only 55/56 JNB rotation that operates a 747 on the Tuesday outbound (and Wednesday return). Sorry, the JNB info on a380flights.net appears to be somewhat incorrect & outdated. When an A380 starts on the 283/282 LAX rotation on 05/19 (according to both BA's and AA's website), there will be no way to operate this new rotation in addition to the existing rotations without a 6th bird. Therefore MSN151 is going to need to be delivered by then. And again, I just seem to think that delivering the bird the very day they will begin to need it seems doubtful. I would hope that Airbus and BA have already had this discussion, and MSN151 will be delivered before May 19th. But we will see... Sorry, I'm not trying to ruffle any feathers. I was just adding my .02 cents, for what it's worth...
