Please let me know if there is a thread for this already, but I haven't seen much information on the Freight versions. Are they still going to be built? Just curious (as usual )

Just curious (as usual ) My understanding is that all A380Fs were cancelled or converted to passenger versions with no immediate plans to restart the freighter programme. I do not know what happened to the parts / built sub assemblies - the A380F had a different wing design to the A380. Given the current state of the air freight market then I cannot see there being a requirement anytime soon.

Just curious (as usual ) A set of A380F wings was supposedly built and should still be in storage somewhere. If they stick to the original design, Airbus could presumably resurrect the A380F at rather short notice.

Thanks for that, now I understand why it's quiet!

Which parts of A380F are freighter specific and which are also used in passenger A380-900 and A380-800R?

Cargo doors, especially if they want a hull wide door like 747, the hull without windows, the floors of the two upper decks (If it will have that configuration.) probably needs to be stronger to accommodate cargo instead of passangers.

Would they need to design a new ULD to fit the A380's top deck?

Would they need to design a new ULD to fit the A380's top deck? Probably not since it was constructed with a frighter in mind and they (airbus) seems to be quite consistent with the same ULD LD3 according to Wiki

Well, they speak of a passenger-to-freighter conversion programme, which they say might happen ten years from now. That's very different from a new-built freighter !
I understand their interest in that conversion project, since any lessor's concern is how to use out-of-lease aircraft.
Yet I doubt an A380 passenger-to-freighter conversion programme would be successful. The converted freighter would be very difficult to design, and the project would require very optimistic market projections. Given existing trends in the freighter market, I don't see it happen - I don't believe there would be a market for it, when most recent passenger aircraft (77W, 779, 748, A350, 787) have been designed as great freighters. Also, I believe A380s will keep a good value as passenger aircraft, whereas a successful freighter conversion programme requires many cheap airframes available for conversion.
